Just for fun sometimes I like to pull out my kids toys and think of ways to shoot them. I have never tried to then process them in black and white. So, yesterday I tried just that. Here is my favorite:
It’s a lone wolf lurking in my front yard. For this photo I went with an f-stop of 5.6 because I wanted the whole wolf to be in focus but I was OK with the background not being in focus. I cropped the image in Aperture and then chose a blue filter in Photoshop, then I sharpened the image a bit.
Thanks so much to Sonel for hosting this challenge. I usually leave my images in color, so this is a fun chance to try black and white.
Cheers!
What a beautiful wolf PJB! Great capture hon and thanks so much for taking part in the challenge. Much appreciated. 😀 *big hugs*

I agree, it does look like he needs some company, made for a more dramatic black and white image though 🙂

and what a great result you got… I love it… love also your explanation of how you processed the photo… helps others like me struggling with the B&W .. it was so much easier years ago when that was all we got from the little Instamatic etc that I used… they either worked or they didn’t.. LOL

You are right, these days you can spend hours attempting to “fix” a photo. I don’t do a lot of black and white, so I really like the challenge because it is actually trying something a bit different.

This is such a fun idea! At first glance, and in black and white, I almost thought it was a wildlife photo!

I think that is why I liked the blue filter for this particular photo, it was the one that looked the most “real”

Thanks so much:) This image really was much stronger in black and white than color, funny how sometimes there is just such a big difference. Glad you find the settings helpful, it is helpful for me to talk about them so I can be more aware of them when I am actually taking photos.
