Weekly Photo Challenge: Jubilant

When I see the word jubilant I think of bright colors, orange and yellow:

ISO 400 4.3mm f/2.7 1/200

I had been stalking these wildflowers most of this week, but rain has made it difficult to get a good shot.  I finally caught a break two days ago in the evening when the rain stopped and the sun made a brief appearance.  I took this photo with my point and shoot camera on the macro setting and set the ISO at 400.  There was a slight breeze, but at 200th of a second, this flower seems frozen in time.  I kept the editing to a minimum.  I cropped and sharpened a bit in Photoshop, then added a grain filter and vignette in Lightroom.

What do you think of the editing? Do you also associate certain words with colors?  Feel free to leave a comment below.

  2. Thanks for the lovely pics all the time, and this one in particular.
“Jubilant” is a great word for bright yellow, orange and red flowers. I always think of my mom when I see yellow flowers because they were her favorite too. They remind me of yellow smiley faces because they just make you want to smile in “jubilation” when you see them. Sunflowers, daisies, and zinnias, chrysanthemums, tulips and daffodils, narcissus, primrose and dandelions — yes, those “weeds.” When you see them blooming, you don’t see snow and you know spring is here. My favorite bouquets were those beautiful flowers from my kids.
Makes me Jubilant just thinking about it.
    Peace, Marianne

  4. I really like it and how the image doesn’t look grainy at ISO 400. It is wonderfully captured even with the breeze blowing. With yellow, I think spring and all things full of life after the storm.

  5. Hi – well I sorta think of colors when I hear jubilant- and I do more now as the main photo for this challenge at the daily post had that colorful image…. and then yours and others – and even my jubilant photo is a color image at the end of a black and white post.
but do you know what I really think of with jubilant – is this jumping around kind of joy – and so your image had that kind of energy with the jutting out of the petals – two left and five right and down – gave it energy and a feeling of jubilee….
    really nice…
