There were some things I expected to see on my day at Dover Castle, literally centuries of history, fabulous view, and then one thing I did not:

Yup, a Corvette owners meet-up of some kind. Seems a bit unlikely, who thinks to storm the castle in their Corvette?

That first photo is an edited version of the original as-shot version which is the second photo. As I was editing this photo I tried a few things including adding a film filter and another version that was black and white. What I ended up liking the best though was this version where I have adjusted the saturation and luminance sliders in Lightroom. I like the subtle tones, while the luminance works nicely on the cars I think. The final photo is unedited, I took it because I just thought that the setting for this group seemed so incongruous, that I had to take a photo.
What do you think of my edits? Do you ever take photos like that last one, just because the scene seemed so improbable? Feel free to leave a comment below.

Oh I definitely am on the hunt for the unusual. That’s my favourite kind of photo. Even as a classic location I try to find something out of the ordinary. I’d say this definitely qualifies as out of the ordinary. Wonderful editing as well for the lead photo.

I like the more dramatic sky of the edited picture, and the colors of the cars in the original. Sometimes, it’s difficult to choose… 😉

Modern knights? I too love finding incongruous compositions such as this, but they rarely go beyond the limits of my digital album. Your first moody photo sets the scene for the classic view of English castles.

It’s not that I didn’t believe you, it’s that it just seems like a rather one season car. I feel that way about people who have convertibles of any kind here in England, just a question of how much use you would get out of it. I have a very determined neighbor though, every chance he gets, his roof is down, so good for him 🙂

I haven’t been to Dover castle in years – must pay it a visit now I’ve retired 🙂 It is a great view from up the top there isn’t it!
