This is an interesting reminder of how quickly history is forgotten. This was built by the Romans to keep out the barbarian invaders from the north. Well ….it didn’t work and now today the need for a “wall” to keep out invaders of a different type is very much in the news.
Funny that you should mention that. We were in Dublin the other week and at the site of Dublin Castle, under the current wall, there is a Roman wall that was built on top of a Viking wall. Proof perhaps that some things don’t change.
