I would appreciate constructive comments on my photos I have written about on my blog.  Some of my posts include information about how I took the image and edited it.  I also post many of my nature photos.

  2. Thanks for dropping by to visit Hanuman and his family. I must say you lucked into the most magnificent position to take your whale tail … magnificent! My close encounter, he was spinning on his tail, nose to the sky:) I don’t know if you saw it – I posted it for the Oceans challenge a few weeks ago.

  3. I like your video but I still don’t know who or where you are. You kindly stopped by my About page in response to the About page 201: Meat Grinder post so I’m returning the favour. Your promise of explanations of the editing process appeals to me so I’ll look out for those.

  5. Hi. I just found your blog (thanks for liking a photo that I put up on my blog) and wanted to let you know that I think it’s great. I especially like that you take the time to discuss the process and technique of a photo. As someone who is interested in photography and enjoys learning new things this is very helpful. Thanks for the great work!

Awesome stuff! Thanks for the like on my blog. I got my DSLR only late last year and I have lots to learn. I will be coming back for some more to learn from you. I’m not sure if I’m in any position to comment on your stuff, being a very very amateur photographer 😉

    Cheers!

Saw a comment you made about visiting NZ in Wheres My Backpack and thought I would drop by, I got my first proper DSLR just over 4 years ago and like you I started blogging about learning photography when I got it, to try and save my sanity and maybe learn something along the way. Well done with your efforts, I can clearly see what you are showing and also that you are having fun 🙂

The Daily Post Weekly photo challenged has inspired me to try my hand at photography. I only have a regular Sony camera and mostly take my shots with my iPhone, what kind of camera do you use? What inspired you to pursue photography? Me I’m just a burst of creative energy and so far I’m having so much fun self-teaching myself. By-the-way great blog!

    • Thanks for the compliment and your visit. I have a Canon 50D, Canon Powershot Elph, and an iPhone. I use all of them, it just depends on the situation. I’ve always liked doing something “creative”, and photography just happens to be the latest evolution of that. One of the reasons I love digital though is that I can experiment at a pretty low cost. If you haven’t found it yet, I like this site as a basic source of info and ideas: http://digital-photography-school.com I like the photo challenges here at WordPress as well. The one WordPress runs is the largest, but several other photographers run smaller ones that are worth checking out as well. All the best to you!

  18. Hi there, Your blog has a very smart appearance. I don’t know very much at all about photography. Although I do try to think about about how to frame a shot, but not necessarily achieving the outcome I intended. The information you share about how you’ve achieved the photo is very helpful to a novice like me.

  24. Congratulations on the Freshly Pressed distinction! I also had one of my posts selected for Freshly Pressed – when I first started blogging, actually – and it was really fun to receive the recognition. I appreciate that you took the time to share your thoughts on a couple of my posts recently. I like the refresh on your blog! Kudos!

      • And thank you on my end as well. I really enjoy your images, and your expression of what it took to create those images. In my case, I got this Freshly Pressed honor relatively soon after starting to blog, but I think it was because the photo in the challenge was so odd that people had a hard time making something of it. I used a humor-satirical approach, and I think it happened to strike the editors well. No second occurrence since, and that’s okay! 🙂

I’m enjoying your England photos. We lived south of London for two years before moving on to Qatar for a few years, then back to Canada. I didn’t have a particularly good film camera when we were overseas – digital cameras hadn’t happened yet. Your photos are helping me to remember all the pictures I didn’t get!

    Hi Maranto,

My name is Justin and I have been looking through your blog. I love your photos! But I must say I love the hot air balloon photo with the contrasting stormy clouds as my favorite. Did you make the photo an HDR?

I just started a website for beginner photographers, and have written a couple of blog posts to get me started. I would love some feedback if you have a chance to take a look. Here’s a link if you have a chance to check it out: jusmcafee.com/on-location/

I thought my articles might resonate with your readers. This weekend, I’m doing a deep dive into posing for portraits for my subscribers. If you are interested, I could write a version especially for your readers as a guest post. Let me know if you would be interested.

    Thanks,
    Justin
