Abandoned

ISO 100 28mm f/22 1/13

This photo I entered into a contest where the theme is abandoned.  Even though this field is used quite often, it always looks abandoned the second that everyone walks away.  I shot it in color, but I thought that B&W was a better format for the theme and for this picture.

Cheers!

Sepia this time

I have entered this photo in a contest:

ISO 500 f/7.1 1/13 50mm

The theme of this contest is “-Scapes” so here is a seascape in a jar.  When I edited this photo I put in sepia because I liked the glow.  I thought that tone lent itself well to a seashore scene.

It is also available for sale here.

Cheers!

Smooth as Silk

Smooth as Silk, that is the theme for a photo contest I entered this photo in:

ISO 250 135mm f/9 0.6s

It is obviously cropped, but I wanted to keep the shadow in as I thought it made the photo a bit more interesting.  I messed around quite a bit with my shutter speed when I was making this image.  I wanted to show the motion, but not blur it so much that you couldn’t tell that it was a top.

Your critique is welcome, but wish me luck even if you don’t like the photo 🙂

Cheers!

Macro Contest I am working on

This photo is what I am busy working on today:

It is a macro contest.  It has to be a nature image, but no flowers or critters.  Any post-editing is fine.  I can enter three images, the other two I haven’t taken yet 🙂

Thoughts?

Cheers!

Photos for Rejection, I mean Submission

Because what fun is taking pictures if you can’t have someone reject them?

Ha, ha, sort of.  Anyway, I have two photos that I submitted today.  The first is a robin egg photo.  If you caught my earlier post, you know I was taking them this morning.  I went out again this afternoon, to get what I hope is a better shot.  This will go for judging to my camera club, and it has been edited.  I use GIMP for post-editing.

ISO 200 125mm f/25 1/5 tripod

This next one is for National Geographic “My Shot”. I can submit one photo per month. Post-editing is not allowed.

ISO 200 135mm f/6.3 1/25 handheld

Me, as a winner

I was very happy to be a finalist in the World Bird Sanctuary’s “What Do They Do All Day?” contest.  Here I am with my winning entry:

Here are the pictures in slightly larger form.  I’ll start with the center and then go clockwise:
