Travel Theme: Glass

This week it seemed like two of the photography-themed challenges I participate in overlapped.  The first was “illumination” at WordPress, and the second is this week’s theme of “glass” at Where’s My backpack?

The photos I posted for the illumination theme, I could have posted for this glass theme as well because they were glass and I had travelled to see them.  If you would like to take a quick look at that post, it is here.  Instead I picked this one for the glass theme:

ISO 500 50mm 0ev f/7.1 1/13

ISO 500 50mm 0ev f/7.1 1/13

I chose this one because it is the memory of traveling preserved in glass.  The actual shells are on display at a friend’s house.  I was over when she had this project spread out on her table.  Photography is one way to remember your travels, but this is another.

As for the picture, I converted it to sepia on a whim while I was editing it, and this was the version that I liked best.

Cheers!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Illumination

I am posting a few pictures today that I took awhile ago that fit the theme of illumination:

For me, these photos are nice, but not exactly what I was hoping to create.  They were taken at the Bellagio which is nowhere near where I am living now, so I can’t walk down the street to try again.  Here is the other thing, my brain was on vacation at the time.  That doesn’t make for stunning photography, but as nice reminders of my time off they are perfect.  Is there somewhere you wish you could visit again just to take better pictures?

Cheers!

Introducing Bubbles

Our latest member of the family, Bubbles, is a male beta fish:

ISO 1250 50mm 0ev f/5 1/200

Wow, is he hard to photograph.  There is the glass, the light, his color, movement….  I goggle searched photographing fish just to get a few ideas of how to get a good shot.  We have had Bubbles for a few weeks now and this is the first photo I managed to get that I feel is fairly clear and representative of what he looks like.  Fish photo tips? feel free to leave them in the comments!

Cheers!
