52 Week Smartphone Challenge: Week 16

This week’s theme, Shadow, is one that could be interpretedĀ  in many different ways particularly at this time. I call this photo, Stepping Into My Space:

ISO 25 f/2.2 1/1166sec 4.15mm

What’s going on in this photo? Quite a bit. I’ll divide it into pros and cons.

Pros: I’m out on my daily allowed by the government walk, and it’s a beautiful day. The other shadow is my walking partner/teenager and we are both healthy. This is a friendly dog.

Cons: This is not my dog, it’s not on a lead, and I am both allergic and scared of dogs.

For me, this photo has a bit of conflict and tension in it. The original file lent itself well to a square edit, so I went ahead and used Hipstamatic to create the image. After an initialĀ  shuffle of random filters, which the app will do for you with the touch of a button, I settled on a combination I liked and then did some additional edits to come up with this final version.

Your thoughts and comments are welcome below.

Cheers!

Daily Record Weekly Photo Wrap-Up: Week 55

Like everyone else, I am having a strange week. Although our individual details are different, I think we are all together in trying to figure out what our coming weeks are going to look like. I really like my little space here on this blog, so I will be attempting to spend some time here. For this series this past week, my photos are all shot using the randomise feature in Hipstamatic:

Welcome to this week’s instalment of my daily photographic record. Posts in this series will be photos from the week before, roughly Friday through Friday. This, once a week, wrap-up post will publish on Sunday. The photos for this post will be in a gallery format, they will have all been taken on my phone. The captions on the photos will be an indication of the photo-editing software used to edit them, or simply “as-shot” for those that are unedited.

Writing a weekly wrap up with a gallery is a way for me to gather my thoughts on what has caught my attention in the previous week. It will be a way of filtering through what I am thinking about photographically. I’ll also be able to come back to these posts and look at what trends emerge over time.

As with all my posts, your comments are welcome. I appreciate your interaction with my work here on this blog. It is my intention to publish in this series on Sunday. Every Sunday that is possible. Looking at my year, I already know there are some weeks where I will not be close enough to my technology to make a post possible. In an effort to keep this project pleasant for myself, I won’t be attempting catch-up posts.

Hope to see you in the comments below and in this space next week!

Cheers!

January Squares: Flight

This was a photo that I just happened upon:

ISO 25 f/2.2 4.2m 1/8500 sec

Having spent the day at Waddesdon Manor and walking back to our car, a spitfire flew overhead. This is the edited version:

ISO 25 f/2.2 4.2m 1/8500 sec

Created in Hipstamatic with the Florence lens and Sussex film filters. What this photo needed most was the crop. This photo is really about a beautiful summer sky.

The Instagram post is here:
