A Sign in Black and White

This shot I took with my point and shoot in its monochrome setting:

ISO 400 9.3mm f/4.5 1/80

It is unedited.  Here is an edited version:

ISO 400 9.3mm f/4.5 1/80

I did some cropping and also darkened the image.  How would you have edited differently?

Cheers!

For Today: It’s Black and White

At some point this year my photography club will have a competition with “Landscape: Black and White” as its theme.  I don’t do a lot of black and white images, but we were hiking and I came across these rocks that I thought would look better in B&W than color.  Here is the image I came up with:

ISO 1600 4.3mm f/2.7 1/60

I took this with a point and shoot and without and tripod.  I have done a bit of darkening and cropping. What do you think?

Cheers!

Macro and a mini-rant

Here I am taking my new point and shoot for a spin in the “macro” setting:

ISO 125 4.9mm f/2.8 1/60

Wild blackberries, yum!

But I digress.  This was the best shot of the blackberries I came away with.  I need to consult with the manual of the camera, because I got A LOT of blurry photos in this series.  Here comes the mini-rant.  The manual is a download on my computer. There is not an actually paper version. So, can’t take it out into the field with me to consult on the fly! But wait! there’s more! The bigger gripe is this.  I do a lot of work on the computer, so I do not like to read things like camera manuals and other things that I am reading for fun on the computer.  I need a break from technology! I  would like a paper copy of my camera manual! I am considering sending the file to a copy place, but then I would feel bad for “wasting” paper.

Wow, do I need to get a grip!

Cheers!
